The decision to select glass for railings can be crucial for the aesthetics and safety of your interior or outdoor space. It is worth paying attention to the types of glass, their durability, and properties that affect user comfort and appearance.

The basic types of glass used in railings include: laminated glass (VSG), tempered glass (ESG), and laminated tempered glass (ESG VSG). The latter is a durable and safe solution for self-supporting glass railings. Tempered glass provides strength while lamination ensures safety; in other words, a cracked pane does not shatter.

Each of the above types comes in various thicknesses. Popular sets include:

- VSG: 44-2, 55-2, 66-2

- ESG: 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm

- ESG VSG: 44-2, 66-2, 88-4, 1010-4

There is also the choice of glass color. Traditional float glass has a greenish tint in its mass, and the thicker it is, the more intense the green. Antisol type panes are colored in mass, with popular colors being brown and graphite, while rarer colors include blue and dark green.

Tempered ESG glass is used in glass walls, while laminated VSG panes are usually employed in steel or wooden railings as infill between posts.
